Kitchens are the only place in the houses where nobody can remain angry or mad. The internet is filled with quotes about how a happy kitchen automatically relates to a happy home. Almost everyone can relate to how their imaginations get more dynamic as they close their eyes and think about all the delicious and aromatic foods they can find in kitchens.

Doesn’t your heart get filled with euphoric emotions when you try to remember childhood memories of your family gathered around the kitchen counter baking all sorts of sweets? The kitchen is the heart of the house, and delicious food is the remedy to almost all foul moods.

However, sometimes food makes people sick, and many times, these ailments are caused by small insect pests, and bugs found roaming in the food products – packaged or otherwise. Although these tiny bugs accumulate in the kitchen on prolonged exposure to contaminated areas, there can be various other reasons for these tiny bugs to infest your home and kitchen.

Like humans, bugs also need their tummies filled, and the kitchen is where all the food stays. These pests can include ants, cockroaches, tiny beetles, rodents, flies, and pantry pests. They can carry life-threatening diseases that could be highly contagious. During a large-scale infestation, these pests can be found roaming all over the house, hiding in corners, and creating havoc at the most inconvenient times.

Since kitchens serve all the insect pests’ basic needs – food, water, and shelter, insects are instantly attracted to these safe-havens. Also, no rent and bugs do not have brains developed enough to take calculated measures to protect life from humans.

However, this is beneficial for us because bugs do not have a coordinated army to counter our simple and easy measures to eradicate their illicit communities from our homes. For this reason alone, using natural and fast methods to kill the tiny bugs in the kitchen is the most moral way without ethical implications.

Regardless, evolution has made some bugs strong enough to withstand the harsh natural ways to kill them. So, we have no choice but to resort to human-made pesticides and insecticides that are guaranteed to take care of these infestations problems for a longer duration. Since these situations can often get too large to handle or repetitive enough to cause worry, pest control is the ultimate weapon humanity has against these pesky creatures.

Types of Tiny Bugs in Kitchen

Even though the bugs in your kitchen may look, all the same, they are of varied species and types. The diseases and threats vary according to the type of bugs that infect the kitchens.

Their food preferences and movement characteristics all differ from each other. Some types of bugs that may invade your kitchens are as follows:

Cockroaches – These bugs are the primary reason for restaurants getting served with health code violations. These exoskeleton-armored insects are very difficult to destroy and can carry numerous diseases. Cockroaches are one of the most abundant bugs in the kitchens and bathrooms. During the rainy or humid season, cockroach nymphs can be found in almost every house’s nook.

Rodents – Rodents is just a fancy word for rats and mice that eat your food, destroy clothes and cardboards, and leave droppings everywhere they go. Although they are not tiny bugs, they are the most dangerous pest form that can infest kitchens. House mice and field rats can get restaurants to be shut down permanently. The most trusted source of finding out about rat infestation is through their droppings.

Houseflies – These air-borne germ carriers sit on food, fly around our houses, and drop diseases everywhere they go. Houseflies are the most difficult insects to deal with because they can dodge physical attacks and fly away quickly. They do not have preferences for the type of food they get attracted to, but the more aromatic, the better. Houseflies do not discriminate between wet and dry food items; both get infested just the same.

Ants – Small ants, giant ants, red ants, black ants, and sometimes yellow ants. They come in so many varieties and suffice it to say, and we do not like any of them in our kitchens. Ants are the gatherers of the insect world. They can often be seen moving in disciplined queues working together to bring food to their anthills. Ants mostly target sweet products, but they also infest kitchens with openly left bread, meats, oils, and fats.

Pantry Pests – This is a broader category for the annoying small insects that like to harbor in the kitchen and pantry spaces without causing many diseases. These constitute weevils, moths, small beetles, and flour mites. These get attracted to dry foods stored at room temperatures, especially grains, dried fruits and nuts, cereals, processed foods, beans, and spices – pretty much anything left in the open. Pantry pests can become troublesome during the warmer weather when the food is said to “go bad” faster.
