The pre-history of group-psychotherapy(and psychodrama) started just after
the war: first links around 1950 by mail, around J.L.Moreno and many French and
British, & 1954 International Council for Group Psychotherapy, - and 1973, IAGP
founded formally in Switzerland with by-laws - and a stable bank account.
The twelve co-founders of IAGP, together with J. L. Moreno (USA), were Sam
Hadden (USA), Annelise Heigl-Evers (Germany), A. Friedemann (Switzerland), Anne
Ancelin Schützenberger (France), Raymond Battegay (Switzerland), Raoul Schindler
(Austria), S. H. Foulkes (UK), represented by Malcolm Pines (UK), Josuah Bierer
(UK), Jay W. Fidler (USA), Zerka Moreno (USA), Grete Leutz (Germany), and Ambros
Uchtenhagen (Switzerland).

These names represent the agreed 1st Board of IAGP (there were no elections,
but complete agreement)
Moreno did not want to take the presidency in 1973 (Foundation of IAGP as such)
and he died a few month later(1974).
The order, if you ask you or someone, is the First Board order : first Moreno
(Honorary)-, then president (Hadden) and vice-president (Annelise), -then
treasurer (the Swiss A. Friedmann then general secretary (me, Anne - France as
Moreno was already using me for many things, free of charge, as an extra
daughter could it be said) etc .. there were no elections to the Board, just
agreement. Battegay became president of IAGP later - then all the others ...

also intermediate congresses in Europe as well as in America'(s) , Asia, and around Pacific Rim Australia, New Zealand ...
The International Association of Group Psychotherapy is a worldwide
association of professionals involved in the development of group psychotherapy
in the areas of theory, clinical practice, training, research and consultancy.
